Conor McGregor's UFC Contract Status: White House Fight and New Deal Negotiations (2026)

Conor McGregor: A Bold Claim and a Potential Showdown

Get ready, fight fans, because things are heating up in the world of mixed martial arts! Conor McGregor, the name that echoes through the halls of the UFC, has dropped a bombshell, claiming his current contract with the organization is now void. But why? And what does this mean for his future in the octagon?

Recently, McGregor, along with his son Conor Jr. and popular streamer Caylus, was seen streaming the game Roblox. During this stream, McGregor revealed some significant news. He stated that the UFC's new deal with Paramount has invalidated his existing contract. This is because his previous contract was largely based on pay-per-view (PPV) sales. But here's where it gets controversial...

"I’m warming up now for the White House fight," McGregor announced during the stream. He continued, "I’m gonna be at it, for sure. It’s gonna be insane, the White House card is gonna be."

He further explained, "I’m going into negotiations with the Ultimate Fighting Championship in February. I’m very interested to go. They’ve actually got a new deal with Paramount, it’s worth $7.7 billion. So the company has 4xed its profit, and my contract, essentially, is void right now because there’s no more PPV, whereas my contract was based on PPV sales. I’m the highest-generating PPV fighter of all time. The PPV system is done, I’m due a new contract. So, we’re going into negotiations in February, and I’m very interested to see how it goes."

This is a significant claim. The crux of McGregor's argument hinges on the shift away from the PPV model, which was the foundation of his previous contract. Given his status as the highest-grossing PPV fighter, the change in broadcast rights could indeed impact his financial arrangement with the UFC. But, is it really that simple? This is the part most people miss...

It remains uncertain if the change in broadcast rights truly affects McGregor’s existing contract, which still has two fights remaining. It could be a strategic move in negotiations from McGregor's side. However, the situation will likely be clarified in the coming months.

In the meantime, McGregor is focused on his comeback. "And what am I doing for it?" he stated. "I’m focusing on what I can control. I’m in the gym. I’m living in the gym, focusing on my health, focusing on my rest, listening to my coaches, following the game plan. External noise is non-existent for me. I don’t absorb it. You’re aware of it, but you don’t let it seep in. Keep the internal dialogue strong. I’m here, showing the kids, showing my team what it takes. You’ve got to live it. You’ve got to live and breathe it."

McGregor has been out of action since July of 2021, when he suffered a leg injury against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. He was scheduled to return last summer at UFC 303 but had to withdraw due to injury. The UFC White House event is tentatively planned for June 14, with UFC CEO Dana White planning to begin booking the card after UFC 324.

What do you think? Is McGregor's claim valid, or is this a negotiating tactic? Will we see him back in the octagon soon? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
